Happy Father’s Day

2010 June 20

Father’s Day, celebrated on the third Sunday of June every year in the U.K and the U.S and presumably the rest of the world too. It is an occasion Father’s secretly wait for – all year long. I think the love expressed by Children all over the world towards their Father shouldn’t wait for Father’s Day. Mothers are felt special pretty much all year long, while father’s have to wait for this occasion – pretty unfair if you ask me :-)

I’m going to keep this post a little short, I am not good at conveying emotions at times but I’d like to share something about me here.

If you are a Father, I congratulate you and wish you well. I’m sure you love your kids and they do too – Indefinitely.

My Dad passed away when I was Four. From what I’ve heard from my family and my Mum, he loved me Dearly. In fact I was his favorite Son. He died when he had 2 boys and was expecting a girl [my mom was 6 months pregnant]. I am the eldest of my siblings. I’ve missed him dearly.

My dad died when he was 26 years old, I can’t bear to think how my Mom found the courage to deal with the loss and raise 3 [super-awesome] kids who drive her nuts even today. My Mother tells me he was the most organized, punctual, intelligent, well versed, articulate and handsome man she ever met. [Now that position is held by me of course apart from the organized part]

I missed my dad all my school life when he didn’t come to pick me up from school, while all the dads waited at the school gates to pick up their kids. But soon after my younger brother and sister started schooling, I took over that position and picked them from school. I’ve had to be the father figure for myself and my younger siblings quite a lot of times, may be that changed me over time in some ways too. I missed him on my Graduations, my first day at the University, when I played sports or when I discovered something super cool. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve had a fantastic childhood and a super awesome teenage, but you know there are times when just need your Dad. My Mum, however did a great job in our upbringing and was always there, so was my maternal grandma.

Filled with emotion, my writing may be all over the place right now so I’m just gonna cut it short. If your Dad is still with you, tell him you Love him. Tell him how special he is, and how much you care about him. The time is never right to say these things to our loved ones, so why wait for what you can do now. If he is not with you, pray for his soul [Whatever faith/religion you are] and wish him well.

I’m going to leave you guys with a video that conveys more things than words. Father’s are special – Make them feel so.

Hope you like the video I’ve chosen for this occasion. I will also apologies that it has taken me sometime to do a blog post and would post here more often. A lot has been going on lately, will keep you updated on that.

If you haven’t check it out yet, and are in need of graphics or mini-sites, I’ve got a special running as a pre-launch of my minisite design service. you can check it out here, Minisite Pre-launch WSO

I am also contemplating a business idea, will let you know how that goes too.

Back to father’s day, I hope you enjoyed this post and if you did please let me know your thoughts via the comments box below this post and spread the love by sharing this page on social networking sides by using the easy and fancy looking buttons at the top of this post. Are you a Parasite? Networking and Gratitude

2010 May 29

Hey All,

Just a quick one from me this time.

If you have read the last post, you know about the entire ordeal of Bristol. If you haven’t read the previous post and want to know how to have the shortest of trips – the longest possible journey or if you want to know how to miss 2 flights in a row or may be you are interested how to have a positive perspective on the most negative of situations – you might want to read the last post first.

Anyways, this post is about the importance of Networking and how it can help you accomplish what you want. I will try and touch briefly on What NOT to do when socializing with Big name Marketers. And then we will talk about Gratitude and how vital it is.

So I went Bristol to attend LFMpire workshop, met some of the biggest names in the Internet Marketing Circle, made some great new friends and met some old friends. Networking, is not as easy when you have got the wrong perspective.

So what is the wrong perspective? First tell me the first thought that comes to your mind if you get a chance to meet any Big Marketer? It is quite predictable if you ask me. Either you would like to ask them any one question about your business that is bothering you at a time, their ’secret’ strategy to make it BIG online or you want them to promote or endorse your upcoming launch. Tell you what, that is the WRONG PERSPECTIVE.

You would not like to be approached for anything related to business when you are simply having a good time mixing with your peers and enjoying some time off from work, then why should be these Big Guys be any different? After all, what is in it for them anyway? In fact you will be consuming their hard earned and well deserved leisure time. Fact of the matter is, specially during the socializing hours – they are there to have a good time and meet friends, not coach you and give you tips about how to run your business.

So if you get a chance to go to an event or a workshop, please don’t be a parasite. Hang out with them and have a good time – You want them to remember you as someone who didn’t want anything in return, someone who knows how to have a good time and someone they won’t want to avoid the next time they see you. And believe me, the business will follow – you will get loads of tips and strategies and more from them but only if they are comfortable around you, you are friendly and if they don’t see you as a parasite.

So in a nutshell, Be a friend – Not a parasite.

I would also like to give a quick shout to the new mates I am glad to have met in Bristol such as Sean Beardmore, James Howard, Andy Michaels, Shaqir Hussyin, Phil Henderson, Ben Kench, Tony Newton, Chris Johnson, Thomas Callaghan and many others.

Gratitude:

Although its kind of off topic, but I’d like to say a few words about it. I have also mentioned the vital role of Gratitude in my report ‘The Ultimate Success Mindset’ [you get a free copy when you subscribe to this blog under this post].

I personally feel it is one of the most overlooked part of our business and our lives. Although we think we are thankful to most things in life but we quite often take stuff for granted. Most importantly, we take People for granted. Our friends, family, peers, business partners… We very rarely say it too.

I’d like to Thank everyone of my friends and subscribers I have met online, every single person who has commented on this blog, everyone who has believed in me and I sincerely wish I make a positive influence in your life and business.

I would also like to thank a very dear friend, one who was with me via text and via skype throughout my 16 hour nightmare to Bristol and who actually pushed me to go to the workshop at the First place.

She is having a Blog Traffic competition, I personally love her Blog and love what she does. Mainly because she is a gem of a person, she is authentic and genuine, she is fun loving and a very good human being.

Her name is Lisa Hernandez and I would very much appreciate if you visit her Blog and say Hello :-)

Thank you for being my Friend Lisa.

As always, please feel free to share the love by the fancy social bookmarking buttons at the top of the post, leave a comment below and if you like what I have to say, please subscribe to this Blog.

Until next time,

The Bristol Adventure

2010 May 15

Some of you may already know that I was in Bristol for LFMpire workshop by Robert Puddy and Donna Fox. I would have posted about going there at the first place but it wasn’t something I had planned till 2 days before the workshop.

The event had many Big Guns as speakers and some of the biggest names in the Internet Marketing industry came down to socialize and network. The speakers were Donna Fox and Robert Puddy [hosts] and Omar Martin, Martin Avis, Simon leong, Jonny Andrews, Amber Hamid,  Sterling Valentine and Jani G.

Ok so you are probably wondering why I would call it an ‘Adventure’.  Well I was gonna call it a nightmare but in the end, it all worked out well and it was all well worth it. If you are reading this and you were at the workshop, you already know where I am getting at :-)

Before I get into the Adventure part, I must tell you that I’ve decided to split this post about ‘what happened at the workshop into two because If I write all about it, you will be here reading for days. So this post is going to be about the ordeal and why I call it ‘The Adventure’ and the next is going to be what actually happened there with some pictures I managed to take there.

Ok so here are some things you may wanna know first:

  • I had to get to Bristol from Middlesbrough.
  • It is a 6 hours Drive.
  • I was flying there from New Castle Airport.
  • It took me 16 hours to get there.

The most common question I got asked at the workshop was, ‘How the Heck do you miss 2 flights in a row?’ but that is less embarassing compared to when I was called upon stage during the workshop and got presented a T-Shirt for having the longest journey, now I don’t know whether it was sympathy, taking the mick, just being humourous or was it a prize for my courage and commitment.

When I say commitment, I say commitment. I almost changed my mind about going to the workshop around 10 times, paid twice as much and missed 2 flights. Hey did I tell you I even ended up at the wrong hotel? or that I missed the first day of the workshop?

Anyways, I set off at 6.00am and got to the ‘right’ hotel at around 11:55pm so you know when I say adventure, I mean adventure. It wasn’t a nightmare though because at the end of the day it all worked on in my favour in a funny kind of way.

When I got to Bristol City centre, I phoned my friend Mark Lyford to let him know that I was finally there and had missed 2 flights. By the time I got to the hotel, pretty much everyone in the hotel lounge at the time knew about it.

I soon got some attention from people who didn’t know me. Met some friends that I already knew and was glad to see them such as Matt Garrett, Randy Smith, John Reed and others [sorry if I missed your name].

By the next day, pretty much everyone was pointing at me and I could hear whispers like ‘hey thats the guy who took 16 hours to get here’ and ‘ hey dude, this guy missed 2 flights in a row’. At first, I wasn’t really happy about it but like I’ve mentioned before, this things worked out in my favor.

2nd day of the event, I went to check out Jonny Andrews presentation and right before he was about to start and Donna Fox is standing at the stage about to invite Jonny on stage and I had literally just got into the room, Robert Puddy comes to me, put his hand on my shoulder and announces  ’How about we give it to the most deserving person in the room’ and everyone turn around looking at me, standing at the back of the room. I personally had no idea what was going on and then Robert goes on to say ‘The person who took the longest, suffered the most and has a bit of a story to tell about how we got here’ and thats when I noticed Donna has a T-Shirt and she was giving that away.

So I am standing there, Gobsmacked that people are looking at me and I don’t know whats gonna happen next. The workshop attendees at that point have no idea about the whole ordeal of me missing two flights in a row and ending up in the wrong hotel before actually getting to the workshop.

Donna announces ‘Maddi why don’t you come up here on stage’ and I am like Nooooo

This is the brief conversation we had when I was on stage with Donna:

Donna Fox:  Hey Maddi, just briefly tell everyone How long is the drive to Bristol from where you were coming?

Maddi: 6 hours max.

Donna Fox : How long did it take you to get here?

Maddi: 16 hours

* The audience laughed*

Donna Fox: How did you get here Maddi?

Maddi: I took a plane which is a 1 hour flight.

* The audience had a confused look for a second and then erupted into a big laughter*

With that Donna Fox thanked me and gave me an LFMpire T-Shirt to be proud of because it was well deserved and Jonny Andrews stood next to the stage giggling at my rigmarole journey.

Moral: At first I wasn’t really happy about it and that it was funny but not really good for my profile if you know what I mean. But it soon dawned upon me, that it actually boost my profile and people who didn’t know me, knew me. It got on me on quite a few people’s radar and now they remember me by name. I remember Chris Johnson said to me during the workshop that ‘Maddi, being different is good. Being average is not’.

I am a full time Internet Marketer, but I still have a long way to go and this actually turned to be in my favor and Big Marketers who probably go to these events all over the world, will remember me if you know what I mean :-)

This post is getting quite long now and I hope it hasn’t been boring and that you got something out of it. Not only it was a test of commitment for me to get there at any cost but it actually helped me to get to know great people and make some awesome friends. I look forward to attending as many of these events as possible but hopefully not missing flights this time.

If you liked the post, please let me know what you think in the comments below and don’t forget to tweet or share it on facebook using the buttons at the top of the post.

Procrastination Killer… Introducing ‘Power Sessions’

2010 May 2
  • Stumbleupon
  • Delicious

Hello People,

Its funny I promised a second post about procrastination and what I was doing to avoid it and make my time more productive and then I disappeared. Kind of looks like I was procrastinating like Lisa said in one of her comments on my last post but that is not the case. I delayed the post and here are some reasons [excuses ;) ]

  • I am not a productivity guru/expert [personally I suck at it]
  • Wanted a really informative post so that I could post as an expert [realized I can't pose as someone I am not]
  • Wanted to research my technique to give you a detailed insight
  • Also wanted to double check if any one else was doing the same and if I was the originator of this technique.

Well, here are the findings. I couldn’t find information relevant to what I am doing to avoid distractions and I think I’m pretty much the originator, but then again I think it is so simple, no one realizes its actually very effective and can be called a ‘technique’. Although I am still getting some bells ringing in my head that I actually read about it somewhere few years back but have now forgotten the source. So folks, I don’t wanna claim that its actually invented by me. Heck it might be so simple you may think its not a technique at all.

Introducing…. *Drum Rolls*  Power Sessions:

Now there wasn’t any need of giving this particular thing a ‘name’ but I think when something is given a name, it carries a certain significance and symbolizes an attribute, triggering our mind to devote particular attention over something and I think it sounds kinda cool too for example, instead of saying I’m gonna focus on [insert task here] now, it sounds way better when I say I am having a Power Session (wouldn’t you agree?)

So here is what a Power Session is in a nutshell:

  • You pick up a task
  • You shut as many distractions as humanly possible
  • You set up a time limit to accomplish it
  • You devote your entire being to it

What? But Maddi this is so simple. I see you are disappointed with the solution, but I promise you it is not as easy as it seems. It is SIMPLE but not EASY if you know what I mean. All you need is a to-do list and prioritization, first things first. Starting from the most important task, you pick one and follow the steps outlined above.

Comparatively, I’ve tried both. Simply having a to-do list and then picking one task at a time did have some good effects on my productivity and I managed to get a lot of stuff done, which I wouldn’t have if I didn’t have a well planned, prioritized list.  But simply integrating a ‘Power Session’ with that list massively multiplied my tasks taken care of and increased productivity.

So yea, here is the promised tip from the last Blog post and I hope you found it informative. I’d like discussion about it in the comments to be honest because I really wanna know what you guys do to boost productivity and get the most out of your time online.

Like always, If you like what you read, please leave a comment and spread the love by sharing it with your friends by using the digg/facebook/stumbleupon buttons at the top of this post or simple retweet it.

I am getting stuff done… or am I?

2010 April 14

Hello people,

Apologies, haven’t been in contact and the blog hasn’t been updated because I’ve been really really busy and I promise I will make it up to you. The Blog has slightly changed since your last visit but I can tell you this is not the final look. However I am in the process of renovating the Blog and you will see some major changes happening in a week or two.

Warning: This post may also sound like a plotless drabble because I am just writing it to quickly get this out to you so bear with me on this one. Like I said, I will make it upto you :)

So what is this post about? Well I have been meaning to write about this for a while now and I think this post will really relate to you if: you are an online marketer like myself, you are an entrepreneur or you are just a regular person who simply can’t get your stuff done :)

So lets start with what I have been really busy with. Well I committed the ultimate crime of entrepreneurship and started multiple projects all at once. I finished my report ‘The Ultimate Success Mindset for Online Entrepreneurs’ earlier this month [you can get it by subscribing to this Blog on the right]. I have been setting up the Success Library at a new domain and setting up an affiliate program for it.

I absolutely love this product and wanted to give it maximum exposure by getting affiliates, choosing the affiliate program was a nightmare, mainly because I am new to paydotcom and before this, I have only been working with clickbank and direct paypal. [by the way, drop me a message if you wanna promote it ;) ]

I also am launching a minisite design service later this month at Get Your Minisite [not ready yet] and besides that I am also participating in a giveaway event as a contributor [link at the bottom if you wanna join] as well. Giveaway events are fantastic for list building, but not all of them are worth our time. I joined this one because it appealed to me and because it is powered by Roger Hyatt.

Quite a lot of stuff isn’t it. Will it surprise you if I tell you that my productivity has actually been reduced to less than half to what it was last month. Why you ask? well… when you do multiple things at a time, you simply reach what I call ‘A point of Overwhelm’ where you think you are doing a lot of work, but in reality you are simply staring at your computer screen, switching between windows, reading through forums, checking emails and having this mental image that you are super busy and ‘progressing’.

However, I have finally discovered a technique to get a whole lot done and make the most out of my time spend in front of the computer screen meaning ‘actual progress and productivity’ rather than just spending time on my computer and I will touch on that in detail in my next post [if you guys are interested] but here is something that relates to all of us in our daily life.

[Yay!! I've learned how to embed youtube videos in my blog]

I am sure you can relate to that, so can I. But guess what, it doesn’t have to be this, in fact IT SHOULDN’T BE THIS WAY. If we want to take control of our lives and make the most of it, we simply can’t afford to let life pass us by like this. We have to be ALIVE to live life, we really need to LIVE life.

My next post will be a detail of what ‘technique’ am I using to overcome procrastination and basically making the most of my time and also let me know via your comments your tips to be productive.

The giveaway’s link that I promised in the post is Huge Giveaway its absolutely Free to join and there is a $9.97 upsell if you wish to take it. I think its a good opportunity to join as a contributor and increase your subscriber base. If you wanna know more about giveaways shoot me a message via the contact page and I’ll get back to you.

I hope you found this post useful and please comment below to let me know of your feedback, also some tips for productivity will be useful for my next post.

Don’t forget to share the love by clicking the fancy looking buttons at the top of this post for tweeting and other social bookmarking stuff.

To your success, happiness and prosperity,
Maddi
